A portion of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the National Alopecia Areata Foundation – to advance research for a cure, to educate the public about this condition, to provide hair prosthetics for children in need, and to bring child sufferers to national conferences to meet other children like themselves.
 
The book’s storyline imparts a character building message, while its non-fiction features (glossary, information text and real photographs) serve to educate children about alpacas and alopecia. For parents and teachers, there are downloadable resources to extend the experience for young children at home and school-aged children in the classroom.
